On behalf of the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club and all its members, I am pleased to extend a Blue and White welcome to all officials, players and supporters of rugby to the club.

This will be a momentous year for our club. We will be celebrating the 20th anniversary of the founding of our club. The merger between the Burnaby Buffaloes and the Vancouver Trojans in 1994.

We have decided to celebrate the occasion with a weekend bash on September 19th-21st . We are looking to bring together alumni and current players, to share stories of times past and present. We look forward to making this weekend a major event and to celebrate the anniversary in style.

In my opinion, the Burnaby Lake Rugby Club hits way above its weight in BC Rugby, in both providing a competitive and festive club atmosphere. We provide rugby for the youngest, four years of age, to the oldest, over seventy. Our club supports skills of all sorts. We have several divisions from thirds to premier for both women and men.

When I came to this country, I had three bags and three hundred dollars. I found a home here with the Burnaby lake rugby club. Looking back some twenty years later its safe to say times have changed. The players are fitter, stronger. The rugby is more skillful, faster. The one thing that has stayed true is the pride the Blue and White Nation share in their club.

To another twenty years!

Simon Smoldon
